How To Hunt A Vampire
This piece looks at the historical and cultural influences of vampires in today’s society. Students are very much aware of vampires from books and television. While vampires were often thought to provoke fear, they have been romanticized in popular culture. Society’s portrayal of current vampires is much different than the real fear that surrounded vampires in the 18th and 19th centuries. Unexplained deaths were said to be caused by vampires, and a vampire hysteria overwhelmed society. Vampires were not just characters in fantasy novels. Thus, this piece helps to explain the origin of vampire mythology and how the fear of vampires has now evolved into a fantasised admiration.
